Harmful and Beneficial Effects on Plants
This website is dedicated to a deeper understanding of the different effects on plants. Effects on plants can be explained in three different areas: microscopic life, the plant's systems and functions, and through the plant's ecosystem. Effects on plants can be beneficial or quite harmful, depending on what exactly that effect is. For example, pathogens can severely harm a plant and eventually weaken it to death. On the other end of the spectrum, some bacteria can be used to strengthen a plant's immune system against bacterial and viral pathogens. Bees can transport pollen to the female plant's ovule, which is essential to fertilizing and growing the seed. However, caterpillars damage plant parts be chewing through its leaves; exposing the plant to harmful pathogens or weakening the plants different functions. These are only a few examples that will be provided and explained throughout this website. Part 1: Bacteria and Viruses
Part 2: Systems and Functions
Part 3: Ecosystems
